STOP SPILLOVER INFRASTRUCTURE MAPPING
Infrastructure mapping and monitoring dashboard developments to support research in the STOP SpillOver program. This is aimed to prevent and manage zoonotic diseases based on human - bat interfaces/ interactions. OpenSource tools that include OpenStreetMap, QGIS, Looker Studio (formerly Google Data Studio) and powerBI. The project was hosted in Bunidbugyo District.
Northern Uganda Tourism Guide
Mapping of Northern Uganda tourism eco system that involved digitization of developed tourist sites, hotels, banks, and shopping centres. Access the product on the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities's website
OpenStreetMap in Schools
An initiative by MapUganda and Africa Digital Access Initiative (ADAI) to give an opportunity to the technology marginalized groups that include students in rural areas, schools in urban centers with no or limitted access to computers and closing the gender digital divide. This is through a shared model access program.
WebMap and Atlas
Danish Refugee Council needed a solution to support monitoring and evaluation of the Northern Uganda Research Initiative (NURI) Program that included a couple of projects in 13 districts of Northern Uganda. OpenStreetMap Uganda provided services that included a WebMap and program atlas. The WebMap supported MERL department in monitoring the impact of the projects (Food Forests, Water Ponds,...).
Domestic Revenue Mobilization for Development. (DRM4D)
Working in collaboration with Knight Frank Uganda, MapUganda digitized and development a GIS enabled Property Tax Register to support cities of Lira, Gulu, Masaka and Mbarara in the mobilization of revenue. OpenStreetMap, OpenDatakit and Python was deployed on the project with the valuers support.

Mapping of local manufacturers in Hargeisa (Somaliland) and Mogadishu (Somalia) to promote local capacity in production of Personal Protective Equipment and other products.The mission aimed at creating local capacity in the use of Open mapping tools such as OpenDataKit for data collection, Kobotoolbox for data management and OpenStreetMap to share data and support further innovations.
Local capacity was created and a dashboard displaying this data shared with local authorities that included National Chamber of Commerce to support in decision making.

Communicated regularly with community members and partners regarding the mapping project and progress, and provide feedback dialogue with the management team. Submitted progress reports, and assisted in producing project deliverables. Supported the design of the project’s monitoring and evaluation system. Managed the monitoring and evaluation database and ensured indicators are captured and data is collected to feed into project reporting cycle. Logistical monitoring, and asset management/monitoring.
Data Assessment AssistantHOT | May - Aug 2020 (4 months)
My responsibilities at Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT) included assessing the completeness of OpenStreetMap data in selected locations around the world as well as compiling buildings and other relevant datasets for these areas from OpenStreetMap or other sources. The tasks included checking the completeness of OpenStreetMap data in identified locations. Checking for possible buildings data sources in the different events locations, and combining datasets for offline analysis. Created reports on the quality of data in OpenStreetMap for assessed events. Developed procedures for checking data quality under the direction of the Project Manager.
Senior Mapping SupervisorHOT | Sept 2019 - Dec 2020 (16 months)
At Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team (HOT), I took lead and oversaw HOT’s field data collection activities on the projects in close coordination with the Project Managers. This included leading with in-person training sessions, providing input into the design and implementation of activities, overseeing remote and field mapping efforts and supervising the work of Mapping Supervisors and field surveyors. Supported the Project Managers in designing, organizing and facilitating OSM training, workshops,and awareness sessions for local communities and refugee populations. Organized and supervised large-scale data collection campaigns in coordination with partner organizations and local communities.
Coordinated logistics and on-the-ground coordination for project field activities. Developed and implemented data collection forms using OpenDataKit Collect, OpenMapKit and other mobile data collection tools. Provided technical guidance and expertise on participatory mapping and OpenStreetMap. Assisted in project report writing, budgeting and translation. Mobile Data Collection Application DeveloperJinja Area Community Federation|Nov 2019 (1 month)
At one of the ChildFund area offices, I was tasked to develop a mobile data collection application in child response and monitoring program. This was later adopted for Kiboga Area Community Federation another area office for ChildFund. I achieved the objective through design and development of aggregate forms, setup and management of server (Kobo server), training of enumerators on mobile data collection using OpenDataKit (ODK), training of Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers on data management and monitoring using KoboServer.
Open Data Kit DeveloperEnvironmental Protection in the Caribbean|Aug 2019 (1 month)
My duties at EPIC were to set up an Open Data Kit (ODK) monitoring system for use by fisherfolk, enforcement agencies and other community patrol members on the Caribbean. The deliverable was to design and develop an Open Data Kit monitoring system, including but not limited to; ODK form, additional ODK elements that may be required for operation of app, data management, analysis and visualization.
Providing instructions to EPIC staff on using the Open Data Kit system, including but not limited to; Setting up and using the application on smart phones, viewing, downloading, editing and displaying data, Editing form fields, such as additions or deletions, Other ODK information, applications and potential uses as deemed relevant for continuation of project.

As an assisstant to the hydrogeologist, I worked on literature review for potential groundwater sites using softwares such as Global Mapper, ArcGIS to identify potential sites for drilling. Worked on over 100 Drilling sites, performed hydrogeological surveys using Terrameter. My Journey of using Geographical Information Systems as an application to solving community challenges begun during this internship period.
Quality Assurance AnalystVero foods industry| May - Aug 2015 (4 months)
During my time at a water bottling company, I learnt a couple of skills and the process it takes to have the water pumped from an underground well to the storage tanks, 3 layer filtration (stone filters, UV-Light filters), Ozonation of the water to allow longer period of storage time, bottling line (water fillers, capping,labelling and sealing). Also visited and learnt how moulding of the plastic bottles was made at Mukono Plastics Industry, Riley Packaging where the boxes were manufactured. Visited the field with the sales team to understand how the market worked. Worked with the management team and learnt how they managed the teams at all stages of production, sales and general managemnet.
Directly I supported the Quality Assurance analysts (2) through supervision of the water production line. Performed quality assurance of water in the labaratory testing for minerals quantities to meet the standards. Supported in water bottles manufacturing (moulding and filling). Inspected the products before dispatch to the market.
